The Buckinghams Join Up with Happy Together Tour for 2 Nights in August

Fulfilling a commitment made in 2020, Carl Giammarese and Nick Fortuna traveled to beautiful Colorado for two shows along the Happy Together Tour this weekend. Due to Covid-19 causing cancellation of all 2020 scheduled shows, this was the first opportunity for audiences to enjoy their favorite 60s traveling road show, now in its 37th anniversary year. On Friday night, audiences in Denver will fill the Paramount Theatre to hear the music of The Turtles, The Association, The Classics IV, The Vogues, and The Cowsills. For this show, The Buckinghams are substituting for Chuck Negron. Earlier today, Carl had a chance to tour beautiful Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, courtesy of longtime friend Lisa Hill and her family. Sharing a few scenic photos and video he snapped this morning: There's something really majestic in this venue. Tonight’s concert starts at 8pm at the Paramount Theatre, located on Glenam Place, near Denver’s 16th Street Mall. It was designe

Remembering Booking Agent Charlie Davis

(Photo by Rick Diamond/Getty Images for IEBA) Today our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Charlie Davis, our Paradise Agents booking agent who passed away Wednesday, August 25, in his home. Charlie was an important part of our many tours that include casinos such at the South Point Casino , Sun Coast Casino in Las Vegas, and the Golden Nugget clubs across the country. A brief summary of his career is found at celebrityaccess.com (Click here ). A second obituary on Pollstar notes that he worked with music icon Chubby Checker as his manager for over 30 years, and in his early 20s, he started out at road manager for Peter Frampton (see story here ). Festival Time for The Buckinghams: Taste of Elmwood Park!

On Friday, August 6, The Buckinghams performed at the Taste of Elmwood Park! This was our first Chicagoland festival since the summer of 2019. What a magical night it was! We had a tremendous turnout! It was so great to see so many familiar faces, fans that have supported us for years that we haven't seen in a long time. Even our original manager Carl Bonafede showed up. It was great to introduce him on stage, Carl was responsible for our success in the early days. Unfortunately, we had to cut our concert short due to a storm that moved in, but we were able to get in 65-70 minutes. There is always something special about playing a Chicagoland festival, the atmosphere is electric! [Two of our Buckinghorns: Dan Moffett (L) and Chuck Morgan (R).] First I want to thank all of you for coming out and joining us. Next, thank you to the City of Elmwood Park. Murray Weiner and Jake Weiner for bringing us back after it was postponed last year because o

Summer Travels with The Buckinghams: Palace Theatre, Greensburg, PA

After a 19-month hiatus from road trips Carl Giammarese and Nick Fortuna traveled to Greensburg, PA, to join the Happy Together Tour 2021 in progress for the first of four dates this summer. These concerts had been originally scheduled for 2020 but we all know what happened to live music last year. This year, audiences have been even more effusive, excited, and complimentary about the chance to see live performances again. The familiar lyric from Joni Mitchell rings true: “You don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone.” (Joni Mitchell, “Big Yellow Taxi”). The lineup for this concert included The Turtles (Mark Volman and Ron Dante), The Association, The Buckinghams, and The Cowsills. Because the tour had to cancel their entire 2020 year, the Happy Together Tour is now in their 12th anniversary year, as the first 25th anniversary of the first tour was in 2010. Featured here is a series of songs performed by Carl and Nick at the beautiful, historic Palace Theatre, b

The Buckinghams Included in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library State of Sound Exhibit

/> In 1966, what are the chances that Carl Giammarese, Nick Fortuna, Dennis Tufano, Marty Grebb, and John Poulos would have ever thought that their names, faces, mementos, and music would be part of an historic exhibit housed in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois? Known as “The State of Sound: A World of Music From Illinois,” it’s most prestigious for The Buckinghams to be included in this collective. It’s fair to say that no one saw this coming. Sadly, two of the five band members are no longer with us, but both John and Marty have daughters who can see and feel the adulation of their fathers’ respective musical legacies. From 1966–1967, in the course of a year’s time, several young men from Chicago’s north side and one from the south side came together to form two bands; ultimately three members of The Centuries would come and go into The Pulsations, whose first membership also experienced comings and goings in their band. Ultimately

Join The Buckinghams in Sending Prayers and Love to Archie Bell

Who doesn’t know and love the 1968 hit “Tighten Up,” made famous by Houston, Texas, native Archie Bell? Together with his band, The Drells, the look and sound of the popular R&B group gave American teenagers a chance to dance and move along to the groove they shared in their songs. Archie Bell and the Drells A special announcement was made today on Sirius/XM 60s on 6 channel today that just a few weeks ago, Archie Bell had suffered a light stroke and has an excellent prognosis for recovery. Presently Archie is back in the hospital again from a small infection but he needs to be there a while longer. Throughout the day, Sirius/XM 60s on 6 channel Deejays shared their best wishes, beginning with morning man, Phlash Phelps, and continuing with Dave Hoeffel, Pat St. John, and Shotgun Tom Kelly tonight: Archie would LOVE to hear from his fans. So let's join them, shall we? Longtime Buckinghams friend and fan Phyllis Spizziri also shared a Facebook post that carried the m

Celebrating Our Nick Fortuna Through The Years – Happy Birthday!

When Nick Fortuna was in high school in Chicago, life in the 1960s was pretty much standard. Guys wore blue jeans and t-shirts and worked about 30 minutes to get their hair just right. Shades of “Happy Days,” right? Well, not exactly. You were known by what side of town you were from, what your neighborhood was, where you went to high school, and what kind of music you liked. So, looking at the 1963 photo above, how long did it take you to find Nick Fortuna? Not too much has changed, except the biceps, from back in the day at Niles West High School. In the early 1960s, you’d find a little of everything on the airwaves of WLS-AM and WCFL-AM Radio stations and on WGN-TV. And, in February 1964, when The Beatles landed in America, everything changed. Every teenage guy wanted to play in a band, or have a band, or be seen in a band—one of those—that was having just as much fun making music as The Beatles were having back then. Here's Nick in his first band, The Centuries, ha
