Carl’s latest collaboration is a distance duet with singer/songwriter Kiki Ebsen, on a Joni Mitchell classic: “Circle Game.” Kiki is a native of Los Angeles and longtime music veteran as keyboard player and singer for Grammy-winning and platinum-selling artists including Al Jarreau, Boz Scaggs, Tracy Chapman, Michael McDonald, Belinda Carlisle, Wilson Phillips, and for over a decade with Christopher Cross before the Yacht Rock tours began. Carl said recently, “I don't know any artist that captures the essence and sound of Joni Mitchell more than Kiki Ebsen.”
Nine years ago, Kiki decided that the music of the iconic Joni Mitchell was not being played, so she started her Joni Mitchell Project, which has performed regularly across California.
In 2017 she released her 7th CD, “Cool Songs, Vol. 2: The Music of Joni Mitchell” with Kiki’s vocals and piano.
Coming this Thursday, July 25, Kiki was invited to bring her Joni Mitchell tribute to the popular Belfry Music Theatre to entertain the vacationers and music lovers who appreciate the historic Lake Delavan venue. Tickets here.
Kiki will be joined by Chicago musicians Mike Bruccoleri on guitar, Brien O’Callaghan on bass and Brian Dale on drums for the concert. Also, Carl Giammarese will join Kiki as a special guest for a few of Joni’s classic best songs, the first time they’ve performed together on stage. Preview Kiki’s “Circle Game” with Carl Giammarese across the usual streaming outlets now. Kiki's husband, sound engineer Steve Wallace, mixed the song at their studio. Listen on Spotify here.
