On Monday, August 16, hometown audiences will enjoy a great time with two of Chicago’s true gems in classic rock, Jim Peterik (Ides of March) and Carl Giammarese (The Buckinghams).

Who better than these hometown boys to share music and memories from classic rock gems that Baby Boomers embrace still to this day?

After a hectic weekend of trying to make everyone's summer vacation perfect, you deserve an evening out, just to kick back, take a deep breath, and restore yourself.

Hit songs are Jim Peterik’s calling card, whether “You Wouldn’t Listen,” “Vehicle” and “LA Goodbye” by The Ides of March, cowriter of “Hold on Loosely,” “Caught up in You,” and “Rockin’ into the Night” (38 Special), “Eye of the Tiger” (Survivor), as well as collaborations with the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, among so many others.

Carl Giammarese is the founding member of The Buckinghams who, daily, continues to craft the continuing onstage presence of hits the Chicago natives made famous—for over 60 years now. Touring nationally and internationally full time since 1982 Carl, Nick and their band continue to keep the music of the 60s and 70s alive, with a solid foundation of hit songs by iconic collaborators James Holvay and Gary Beisbier.

From the day Holvay’s composition, “Kind of a Drag” hit the airwaves, radio listeners propelled it to the #1 position, besting The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer,” and two weeks later, bested by The Rolling Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday”—The Buckinghams were no longer a Chicago band. They were, in fact, a national act and remain so to this day.

Jim and Carl debuted their newly “Intimate Evening” creation recently to two sold-out audiences in June, so already there’s a great buzz for City Winery fans for this event. You’ll hear the songs and the stories, learn things you never knew about these performers and the music business, all in the perfect presence of one of Chicago’s most popular entertainment venues.

What Celebrating 50 Years Since Reaching #1 on Billboard Means in the World of The Buckinghams

Everyone who is a fan of the band The Buckinghams can easily name all the songs that were Top 10 hits, Top 20 hits, and Billboard Top 100 chartmakers. You have several songs that have personal, special meaning for you. But the song that took the native Chicagoans out of the basements of the band members' homes was the one USA Records released last, almost as an afterthought.
